Hello again!

Thanks for coming back to check out my newest FREE crochet pattern. It’s an easy beginner level blanket pattern that was actually released back in September of 2022 when I wanted to create a blanket to make for a friend of mine having a sweet new baby girl.

The September Blanket is a great pattern with amazing drape, making it perfect for laying over a crib or or cuddling with your new little bundle of joy.

It’s a simple and classic style baby blanket and filled to the brim with plenty of color combo opportunities.

While it’s super easy to make, you’ll find yourself quickly getting sucked into the relaxing rhythm of each stitch you create.

Let’s talk about yarn! My favorite!

This pattern was designed with Lion Brand’s Color Theory yarn collection. For my blanket, I used Himalayan Salt, Tourmaline, and Moonbeam. Let me tell you…out of any yarn I think I’ve ever used for a pattern, Color Theory yarn has the dreamiest drape and flow. It is a worsted weight yarn on the lighter side, however, so be sure to check your gauge and adjust as needed if you use another type of thicker worsted weight yarn.

This super easy blanket uses a combination of the herringbone half double crochet stitch and the single crochet stitch. Together, these stitches work up a beautiful texture when alternated for each row.

About the Herringbone Half Double Crochet Stitch

You will QUICKLY learn that the herringbone half double crochet stitch is my all-time favorite stitch. It’s not as well known as I would like it to be, so I’ve found many ways to incorporate it into my patterns! It’s such an easy and simple crochet stitch, and is a beautiful take on the half double crochet - with one minor tweak. For a full written and video tutorial on the herringbone half double crochet stitch, read the post HERE!
